March is looking like a stellar month in Mount Gambier and the Limestone Coast, with an exciting lineup of events, gigs, and attractions for locals and visitors alike.
First up, the Limestone Coast Barbeque Festival is firing up at the Mount Gambier Railway Lands on March 8th and 9th. Expect an epic weekend of sizzling barbeque, craft beer, and live music, with performances from The Butterfly Effect, Slowly Slowly, DZ Deathrays, and more. This festival is a must for food and music lovers alike, so grab your tickets now at Moshtix.
If you love live music in a stunning setting, SummerSalt 2025 is one for the calendar. Happening on March 29th at the Old Mount Gambier Gaol, this event will see iconic Australian artists like Missy Higgins, The Waifs, Josh Pyke, and John Butler take the stage. Expect a laid-back atmosphere, great food and drinks, and some of the best tunes you’ll hear this summer.
For something a little different, the Coonawarra Fringe Festival on February 21st offers a taste of the Adelaide Fringe in wine country. While it falls just before March, it's the perfect excuse to head to Coonawarra for a night of arts, performances, and a glass or two of world-class wine.
Sporting fans won’t want to miss the Southern Ports Golf Tournament in Beachport from February 22nd to 24th. With a picturesque coastal backdrop, this event is a highlight for both amateur and seasoned golfers.
And if you’re up for a road trip, the Port Fairy Folk Festival runs from March 7th to 10th just across the border in Victoria. It's one of Australia's most iconic folk festivals, featuring a huge lineup of international and local artists.
Beyond the events, the Limestone Coast is home to some must-visit attractions. Take a stroll around the stunning Blue Lake, explore the underground beauty of the Umpherston Sinkhole, or venture out to the Naracoorte Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site packed with prehistoric fossils.
Sadly, Fringe Mount Gambier won’t be running in 2025 due to funding issues, but organisers are hopeful for a return in 2026.
