This is honestly one of my favourite songs I have ever written, and really it’s about going through a dark night of the soul, surviving it, and then realising you can thrive, and live life how you want.
My dark years were when I was a teen in Canungra when my parents went through their marriage break down and later separation. It was a tough time for everyone, though I did learn many lessons from these times.
For a long time I couldn’t go to Canungra, I didn’t want to.
It made me too upset, reminded me of too many dark times, but in a way it’s why Sunny is here today.
I make sunny tunes, sunny vibes and bring sunshiney energy, coz I’ve experienced darkness and tough times.
The brilliant okmattcollins wrote this banger with me, and Matt and I co produced this tune with the legendary Scott French from Love Street studios
Alisha Todd and I have been working together through the City of GC Professional Placement Program, and managed to schedule this shoot the day after out QPAC gig in August.
When we were planning the film clip it felt really important to go to the place where I experienced my darkest times, and tbh, it was so healing.
Im this clip you’ll see my family home, the skate park my Dad built for the local community, creeks and streets I used to hang out as a child.
Tough times can be rough, but to quote my own tune, “time heals all if you give it a chance, so hold on baby, coz you know it gets better, IT WON’T BE LONG TIL I SEE YOU AGAIN’ ✨✨✨✨
Directed by: Alisha Todd and Sunny Luwe
Videographer and editing: Alisha Todd
