Local Sounds Tips — Artist Terms
Last updated: 17 April 2026
These Local Sounds Tips Terms (the "Local Sounds Tips Terms") supplement your existing Local Sounds Artist Agreement and apply when you enable the Local Sounds Tips on your Artist Profile page. By enabling the Tip Jar you accept these terms in addition to Stripe's Stripe Connected Account Agreement (AU).
1. Eligibility — AU only, AUD only
- The Local Sounds Tips is currently only available to artists with an active Australian bank account and ABN holder details that pass Stripe's identity verification.
- All tips are processed in Australian Dollars (AUD).
- You must hold an active Local Sounds Artist Profile subscription. If your subscription lapses or is cancelled, the Local Sounds Tips button is hidden immediately and no new tips can be created. Tips already in transit through Stripe's normal payout schedule are unaffected.
2. Platform fee
Local Sounds keeps a platform fee equal to 8% of the gross tip amount, rounded up to the nearest cent. The remainder, less any standard Stripe processing fees deducted by Stripe from the connected-account side, is paid to your linked bank account on Stripe's standard AU payout schedule. We do not delay, hold, or reroute your payouts.
3. Limits and safety rails
- Minimum tip: A$2.00. Maximum tip: A$100.00.
- Per-artist daily cap: A$100.00 in successful tips per UTC day.
- We may reduce these limits, pause new tip creation, or disable an individual Local Sounds Tips without notice if we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse, chargeback risk, or violation of these terms.
4. Tax — your responsibility
- You are solely responsible for declaring tip income to the Australian Taxation Office and for any applicable income tax, BAS, PAYG, or GST obligations on your end.
- Local Sounds treats tips as gifts from fans directly to you and does not currently collect or remit GST on the tip itself in v1. Local Sounds' 8% platform fee is a separate business-to-business service supplied to you, and may itself be subject to GST in your tax invoice depending on your registration status.
- Confirm your own tax position with your accountant. The information above is provided for convenience and is not tax advice.
5. Refunds, chargebacks, and disputes
- Tips are processed by Stripe. A tip can be refunded by Local Sounds support on a case-by-case basis (for example, if a fan was clearly defrauded or charged in error). When a tip is refunded, the platform fee is also refunded so the artist's net is reversed in full.
- If a fan initiates a chargeback or dispute with their card issuer, Stripe will deduct the disputed amount plus its dispute fee from the connected account's balance, in accordance with the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. You bear the financial risk of disputes on tips paid to you. Local Sounds will notify you and assist where reasonable, but cannot guarantee a dispute outcome.
- You agree not to use the Local Sounds Tips to receive payment for goods or services (merch, recordings, gigs, etc.). Doing so increases dispute risk and may constitute a violation of Stripe's acceptable use policy.
6. Identity, compliance, and data
- All identity verification, banking detail collection, and KYC is performed by Stripe directly. Local Sounds does not store your banking details, ID documents, or full ABN — only your Stripe connected account ID and capability flags.
- You authorise Local Sounds to share with Stripe the information needed to create and maintain your connected account (name, email, business type, etc.).
7. Termination
You may disable the Local Sounds Tips at any time from your dashboard. Local Sounds may suspend or terminate your Local Sounds Tips with notice for breach of these terms or Stripe's connected account agreement, or immediately without notice in the case of suspected fraud or risk to fans.
8. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to your registered artist account at least 14 days before they take effect.
