I'm a singer-songwriter born and raised on the land of the Gadigal people in Sydney, Australia. To be honest, it felt surreal to type that out just now, because just a few years ago I didn’t sing at all - no, not even in the shower! I grew up creative – I wrote poems, took photos, danced and designed fashion collections – but I’d gradually lost touch with it as I morphed into an overworked refugee lawyer. My mum’s been a singer for decades, but life had got in the way for her too. One mother’s day, I took her along to a singing class, to get her back in the swing. To my surprise, it did something profound for me too. I felt connected to my body for the first time in years. From the creative soul of Sydney's own giddy, 'kintsugi' is a heartfelt, delicate anthem celebrating the beauty in imperfection and the light that others bring during our toughest moments. With shades of Sufjan Stevens and Laura Marling, this track invites you to pause, reflect, and connect. You're listening to kintsugi with 'giddy'—enjoy the magic.
Emerging Sydney-based artist giddy delivers a poignant and endearing new single, 'kintsugi'—an ode to the process of breaking and mending, and the light we both find and offer in life's darker moments. Inspired by the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, kintsugi's music is a testament to life's imperfections and the resilience they inspire. Drawing comparisons to the poetic intimacy of Sufjan Stevens, the timeless authenticity of Joan Baez, and the soul-baring melodies of Laura Marling, kintsugi's sound is both tender and fiercely human. A former refugee lawyer-turned-singer-songwriter, giddy's creative journey is as inspiring as her music. With roots in Gadigal land (Sydney, NSW), she picked up a ukulele named 'Lorien' and reconnected with her artistic spirit, transforming her poetry into songs that speak straight from the heart. Thoughtful, handcrafted, and radio-friendly, 'giddy' has the potential to become the soundtrack to moments of healing and connection worldwide.
